What does poetry mean? Most importantly what do the words mean? What is poetry?   Poetry is a slice of time accompanied by a BLT and a poutine from a little cafe with the one person that inspires you day in and day out to write from your heart.

Sometimes poetry means that I can make something up.

An expression of the people, places, and things around us. An expression of our minds bodies, expressions of what we believe to be our souls. A way to communicate. A way to relieve, refresh, revive and restore balance with our hearts.

Words are just buckets, fill them with whatever. The glory of poetry then, is that the words aren’t defined by what they mean or what they are, their letters and whatnot, but by context and intent. Poems are a pretty good way to reach across the senses and into the mind.

Well, that’s my view at least.

When I’m glued to the floor. When I am thinking about moving forward and it causes me to hold my breath. When life needs a new spice added with the cinnamon. When I cannot find the courage to physcially change my surroundings. I can always write it down and smile at the world i had just created. This way i can sperate the realworld from the one in my mind.

My words, your words, our words. They are just words until you piece them all together. In your heart, mind and soul. They become so much more. They become a feeling a thought a friend. Those words become a skilled art they become a poem. Poetry can be the essence of understanding.

Explicit headache postcards for casual listeners. Or a board in the fence between dystopia and ecstacy.

Sometimes they mean so much and sometimes they mean so little.
